Sushi has taken the world by storm and we absolutely love this South African flair on sushi... introducing Braai Sushi.
INGREDIENTS
12 strips streaky bacon
200g beef mince (spiced according to taste)
75g Cheddar cheese, sliced into strips
3 – 4 sweet peppers, finely chopped
barbecue sauce
INSTRUCTIONS
1. For the bacon weave, arrange the bacon strips into a lattice formation.
2. To assemble the braai sushi, spice the mince according to taste. Cover ? of the bacon weave with mince. Place strips of Cheddar on top of the mince. Add finely chopped piquanté peppers over the cheese. Roll it up to form a cylinder. Braai over indirect heat, 20 minutes.
3. Baste with barbecue sauce and braai, a further 10 minutes. Slice the roll into bite-size sushi portions and serve.
