Braaibroodjies

No braai is complete without the irresistible aroma of freshly toasted Braaibroodjies. Our traditional Braaibroodjies, lovingly crafted with Marina Sea Salts, transform into a flavour explosion that pays homage to South Africa's culinary heritage.

Ingredients (two servings):

  • 6 slices of white/brown bread
  • 6 slices of cheese
  • 1 onion cut in rings
  • 1 sliced tomato
  • Butter
  • Chutney (of your choice)
  • Marina Lighthouse Salt and Pepper

Instructions:

  • Prepare the Braaibroodjies:

- Spread one side of each slice of bread with butter. Place half the slices buttered side down on a cutting board or grid. Add cheese, tomato, onion, and Marina Lighthouse Salt and Pepper. Top each sandwich with the other slice of bread with the butter on the outside. The butter will give the toasty a nice golden brown colour. Opptional > add chutney.

  • Braaing the Braaibroodjies:

- Add the Braaibroodjies in a grid that can close.

- Braai over mild coals, regularly turning the grid until both sides of the toasty is golden brown and the cheese melted.

- Serve immediatley as a side with your braai'd meat.

Whether you're cooking for friends and family or simply treating yourself to a delicious meal, Braaibroodjies are sure to bring a taste of South Africa to your backyard. Try out this recipe and get ready to savor the smoky, cheesy, and utterly satisfying world of Braaibroodjies!
