Umfino

Umfino is a delicious traditional Xhosa meal that you should prepaer at home as a braai side dish! 

Ingredients: Cabbage  

                  Maize meal 

                  Spinach 

                  Marina Sea Salt 

                  Marina Braai salt with pepper 

 

Instructions: Boil water in a pot about 2/3 full. 

                   Add a teaspoon of  Marina Sea Salt in the water

                   Add a bowl of maize meal and start stirring. Stir gently to avoid lumps in the pap. 

                   If the pap is watery, add more maize meal.

                   Add washed and finely chopped spinach in the pap. Continue stirring. 

                   Add your chopped cabbage in the pap as weel and stir the mix. 

                   Add the Marina Braai salt with pepper for more flavour. 

Continue stirring until you are satisfied with the pap. Cook on low heat for 20 minutes. 

Serve as a delicious braai side dish!
